Responsibilities:
Initiates improvements to packaging and compounding processes to increase efficiency and production throughput. Responsible for the evaluation, design, selection, factory acceptance, integration, installation, training, and startup of new equipment. Works closely with Packaging, Compounding, Technical Services/Validation, and Maintenance to lead project work to a cost effective and timely completion. Lead facility projects for HVAC improvements and space utilization.
Typical Duties:
- Propose automation solutions to increase productivity.
- Integrate new packaging equipment for best use of floor space and operator friendly, ergonomic design.
- Interface with vendors to evaluate equipment and proposals, place orders, monitor construction, and accept at factory, install and startup.
- Develop factory acceptance documents and perform FAT, developing operating settings for equipment.
- Writes packaging equipment SOPs for operation and maintenance.
- Evaluate existing packaging lines and propose changes to maximize efficiency and improve layouts for better throughput.
- Work with maintenance and packaging to suggest equipment improvements.
- Optimize machine changeovers to propose changes in the handling of parts, evaluate techniques and tools used, and provide training.
- Responsible to monitor expenditures, approve invoices and meet budget allocated to projects.
- Evaluate new technologies and monitor market trends in packaging. Identify new/emerging technologies that support goals and objectives through establishing working relationships with packaging suppliers.
- Assists in the design of product packaging to ensure product integrity. Tests, analyzes, and selects materials for packaging based on manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
- Understand and follow pharmaceutical cGMP and quality practices.
- BS or MS in Engineering or equivalent along with pharmaceutical experience with good, solid technical background in systems designs, equipment and vendors.
- Understanding of automation controls, PLC logic, and equipment integration.
- Must be detailed, quality driven with strong communication and computer skills (AutoCad, MS Project) to lead projects with minimum supervision while demonstrating effectiveness working with a small team of highly committed professionals.
