Overall
The Account Executive position is to support senior account management roles via specific projects with current clients and some new business opportunities. This position will be broad based and involve many aspects of account management, although there may be accounts which dominate their workload. The intention is to provide the Account Executive with a wide variety of work experiences to develop their skills and knowledge to a level where they can manage Agency accounts independently.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Internal - This position will assist the account supervisor in representing client needs internally, including meetings and the review process. They will attend internal meetings pertaining to their workload, including those for job opening, status, and creative discussion/presentation. The Account Executive will be responsible for planning many of those meetings and help prepare for them. The Account Executive will be expected to convey the client’s needs and expectations (along with the Account Supervisor) to the internal team and represent the Account Supervisor when he/she is not available. It is essential that the Account Executive and senior account management are in agreement on client feedback and direction prior to conveying that information to the creative team.
- Financial—For those projects on which the Account Executive works, they are expected to review and manage the estimating and billing procedure. Specifically, they are to work closely with the ASM to define the estimate plus track fees and out-of-pockets and make recommendations regarding the need to revise and/or open new jobs. The final decisions on financial matters rest with senior account management.
- Client—Depending on the account and the agency work underway, this position will involve varying amounts of direct client contact as part of the Agency account management team or to represent senior account management. This may require travel (local or national) and nights away from home. Local travel may require the need of a car. Additionally, during all client interactions the Account Executive must act and dress according to the Company Handbook and understand that they represent the Agency in all they do.
- Proposals—This position will include proposal writing of various kinds. Proposal writing is a key function within the Agency and the Account Executive will write proposals for review and comment from senior account management prior to submission to the client.
- New Business—From time to time this person may be involved in new business activities, providing a range of support services for senior account management, including research, presentation preparation, and competitive analyses.
- ASM and Creative Staff Interaction—This position will entail significant interaction with the ASMs and the creative staff. The Account Executive will work with ASMs and Creatives to help define projects, set deadlines, monitor progress, and review creative work. Although the roles and responsibilities may differ from account to account, in general, the Account Executive is there to expand the capacity of the account management group.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- 2+ years of advertising agency experience (preferably with a healthcare focus).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
