Description:
Job Purpose:
Serve as an agency leader for achieving the client’s strategic brand objectives by working with the client to provide them with strategic direction (campaign strategies, influences, drivers, competitive pressures, brand influences, etc.) and by working with the internal team to achieve tactical execution. Typically has the responsibility for managing $2-3 million, proficient in managing and developing others and building teams, grows business organically and inorganically, exhibits strategic leadership, and works independently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- External Project/Client Management
- Working with the Client, create an overall tactical plan that supports that drives the brand messaging and achieves the client’s objectives by working closely with client’s team to understand objectives and staying abreast of the external marketplace to fully understand the competitive pressures, brand character, and brand influences.*
- Manage the client/agency relationship by actively engaging in all client meetings pertaining to the brand (POA, Sales Force meetings, Advisory Boards, etc.), by consistently communicating with the client to manage and align expectations and by reviewing budgets and keeping client abreast of the financial status of the account.*
- Remain fully abreast of all potential brand influences in order to strategically stay ahead of the client by performing internet research, reading trade journals, attending presentations, trade shows or symposiums, participation in formal and informal group discussions and market research sessions with potential influencers (i.e. doctors, sales representatives, consumers, etc.) and sharing brand knowledge with client.*
- Sell agency expertise in new business capacity to new clients or sell with existing clients on additional/new services by showcasing past successes, gaining consensus on new creative idea, or selling strategy to persuade client to follow appropriate path or by selling adjusted timeline.*
- Internal Project/Team Management
- Manage internal staff by supervising, developing and mentoring staff and assuring that staff fully understands the client and their own roles and responsibilities.*
- Work with the creative team to optimize workflow by assuring that the workload is feasible within the creative and account teams.*
- Ensure project momentum by writing creative briefs, reviewing creative work, writing service reports and action reports based on client feedback so that team is informed of project status.*
- Provide ongoing training/mentoring to junior team members by engaging them in processes, meetings and deliverables.
- Create annual financial budgets by identify clients objectives, outlining projects/hours needed to achieve objectives, establishing annual budget, and submitting to Accounting Department.*
- Achieve and monitor monthly and quarterly financial targets by monitoring ongoing financials, quarterly forecasting and performing the annual financial roll-up.
- B.A. degree
- 7+ years prior work experience preferably in an advertising environment
- prior personnel and client management experience highly desired
- General computer proficiency required
- Must possess a strong team orientation and excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, problem solving and influence skills
- Ability to regularly exercise judgment and discretion in order to manage projects
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Normal working conditions
- 20-50% overnight travel required depending on client location and brand
