Role(s):
This position is responsible for managing the overall CME/CE program team Directors/VP’s, as well as contributing to senior management, operations, and new CME/CE programming activities. Management responsibilities include working directly with Program Directors/VP’s to maintain excellence in our client’s educational activities, development of educational strategies, defining potential CME/CE educational opportunities, development and mentoring of managers, and global resource planning. The Senior Vice President is also responsible for establishing strong grantor relationships at the strategic level and participating in educational proposal development and new CME/CE educational opportunities. The Senior Vice President is also responsible for reporting the financial status of future CME/CE programming to the Executive Vice-President on a monthly basis.
The Senior Vice President participates in all management team activities and works with other staff to identify unmet educational opportunities, facilitate inter- and intra-communication, strategy development, conflict resolution, and general operating procedures. He/she also contributes to new educational initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the program team Directors/VPs to understand/interpret educational needs, ensure overall customer expectations are met and surpassed, develop relationships with editorial staff to have a general understanding of content.
- Work with the Program team Directors/VPs to identify additional unmet educational opportunities within current CME/CE programming
- Network with colleagues to identify unmet CME/CE programming opportunities, provide strategic direction on educational strategy and introduce capabilities to other organizations.
- Work with senior management to identify and develop unmet educational needs in new therapeutic areas. Lead and/or contribute to educational grant proposal development and capabilities presentations.
- Oversee Program Director/VP(s) responsibilities for revenue, expenses, and efficiencies within each CME/CE program team.
- Understand and adhere to all CME/CE guidelines (AMA, OIG, FDA, PhRMA, ACCME, ACPE, and IACET) and ensure they are communicated and followed by our customers.
- Manage Program Directors/VPs to assess strengths/weaknesses, personnel issues, career development, and that these plans are in place and continuously reviewed.
- Assist the Managing Director in overall financial and operational management.
- Contribute to program team assignment decisions as needed.
- Leadership role in hiring, training, mentoring, providing continuous feedback, and conducting performance evaluations with direct reports. Ensure that same process takes place between Program Directors and the rest of their team.
- Continuously look for ways to appropriately reward and motivate good work and enthusiasm.
- Participate in management meetings and contribute to overall company direction.
- Work closely with leadership to monitor resources, work flow, and ensure that programming needs are being met and surpassed.
- Assist in achieving stated revenue goals and profitability.
- Ensure that direct reports provide financial status reports on signed, anticipated and lost revenue to Managing Director on monthly basis.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
- A bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree in science or business is preferred.
- Seven plus years relevant job experience is required.
- Senior leadership experience in a medical communications/education environment and demonstrated ability to manage several direct reports is preferred.
- Must have an extensive knowledge of CME/CE accreditation, adult education, and knowledge of healthcare education, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong understanding of scientific and medical concepts.
- Extensive management experience, strategic thinking, proven business development skills, and strong presentation skills, organization, creativity and resourcefulness are a must.
- Computer proficiency, financial management and planning, and educational grant proposal writing skills are also required.
