Summary:
Position involves independent development of scientific content in a variety of formats, accurate interpretation of data, communication with clients and authors, and ability to clearly communicate and produce quality product efficiently under multiple timelines. Position also supports account team in strategic and tactical development and implementation of medical communication plans. A senior medical writer will also provide mentoring, training, and peer review for medical writers.
Education and Core Competencies Required
- PhD or PharmD
- 2+ years professional medical writing experience
- Medical content development in a variety of formats (eg, review articles, primary manuscripts, abstracts)
- Experience with word processing and PowerPoint computer programs
- Excellent writing and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple timelines and work independently with minimal additional training
- Willingness to travel (~15%)
- Independent scientific/medical writing of primary manuscripts, review articles, abstracts, posters, slides sets, and continuing medical education materials including accurate interpretation of data
- Development of promotional/sales materials, such as training modules, formulary dossiers, and product monographs
- Data verification and analysis as required
- Research (eg, literature or competitor searches)
- Attend scientific/client meetings and provide pre- and post-meeting materials as needed
- Development of publication and medical communication plans
- Verbal and written internal communication (eg, project status) and external communication (eg, clients and authors)
- Recruitment of new medical writers
