Job Summary:
The Medical Director is responsible for the review and development of all scientific content within a discipline and across multiple therapeutic areas. The Medical Director works independently, has greater than 5 years of experience in medical education or relevant experience and is fully responsible for all programs and Assistant/Associate Medical Directors within their discipline. The Medical Director is a highly visible individual engaging in frequent interaction with clients and internal staff. Primary responsibilities include review of scientific content for enduring materials, development of publication strategies, positioning of key data, communication with program directors, clients, key opinion leaders and faculty and leadership in business development. Some travel is required.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Supervise content development of all scientific data ensuring accuracy and client/product appropriateness. Provide medical insight and control over all intellectual products produced by the Company.
- Review written material such as proposals and tactical elements including advertising, monographs, and other material for medical accuracy.
- Generate strategically sound project ideas and take a proactive approach on marketing initiatives for existing and prospective clients.
- Collaborate with management regarding medical education strategies necessary for new business opportunities.
- Educate and coach new business presentation teams to ensure presentation data is medically sound and teams are well informed on all medical aspects of the product.
- Participate in and contribute to new business pitches as needed.
- Experience in Immunology, Oncology, Biologics or Cardiovascular a plus.
- Act as the medical resource for the Company providing current and accurate medical information.
- Facilitate ongoing medically relevant internal training, seminars and workshops.
- Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the medical services group. Ensuring appropriate staffing, effective performance management, workload efficiency and quality.
- Maintain a progressive medical library including on-line resources.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key thought leaders and other professionals relevant to the business of the Company.
- Keep senior management informed of ongoing work. Submit monthly status reports outlining current and upcoming projects, assignments, and initiatives.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Ph.D, PharmD or MD preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years medical education experience
- Ability to make sound judgments
