Position Overview:
The Senior Client Services Manager will partner with the Account Director to identify and develop business opportunities with prospective and existing clients. The Sr. CSM’s primary responsibilities include working with increasing independence on the account and operating to enhance sales growth organically, in addition to serving as a liaison between the account and project management teams and being the primary contact for clients and faculty’s day-to-day activities and project responsibilities. The individual is also responsible for the overall development, and delivery of educational and promotional content that meets both the educational and client objectives. A Sr. CSM collaborates with the account team and provides direction to the project team to ensure efficient timely delivery of programs within the approved operating budget and consistent with profitability goals, while serving as a mentor to (an) assigned CSM(s).
Specific Activities, and Responsibilities:
- Business Management
- Participate in client meetings (with an established agenda) that focus on project planning, performance satisfaction and status. Collaborate with account team to plan strategies and tactics for specific client meetings
- Works at a higher level of independence than CSM position, with minimal guidance from Account Director
- Maintain responsibility for the successful delivery and profitability of all projects.
- Review status reports prepared by Project Managers. Modify schedules, plans or budgets as required—ensure changes are understood by all account team members, and promptly communicated to clients and internal team members
- Ensure that account team, client team, and contractors are clear on their individual responsibilities as they relate to the publication process and outputs
- Communicate objectives and contractual agreement to project team, ensure all services are delivered in accordance with contractual agreement, and continually update any changes to the objectives and/or agreement
- Develop workflow and timeline plan for implementing strategies on all sold projects, including key activities, schedules, milestones, outcomes, deliverables, resource plans, budgets and status reviews
- Monitor and compare actual performance against planned performance as it relates to the time and event schedules and budget results
- Assign project numbers and ensure that all team members are using them correctly
- Track billing completeness, accuracy and timeliness and ensure that Accounting has been notified of all monthly billing requirements and opportunities on a timely basis
- Identify requirements for outside contractors, manage the process (i. e. issuing requests for proposals, pricing and value assessment, contractor selection and contractor quality assurance), and work with Medical Director to provide feedback to contractors/writers as necessary
- Ensure that account team, client team, and contractors are clear on their individual responsibilities as they relate to the publication process and outputs
- Business Development
- Responsible for organic growth on given account
- Support the development of client proposals and contracts, including staff projections and financial requirements
- Assist Account Director with development of business plans and any subsequent adjustments
- Contribute continual improvement ideas to upgrade services and technology
- B.S. or B.A. in marketing, communications, pharmacy or related health science
- Minimum of 3-5 years of general business, pharmaceutical, or medical communications experience
- Ideally, at least 2-4 years of experience working within a medical communications company
- Computer skills; project management skills, ability to analyze and respond to financial implications of the business, excellent oral and written communication skills, manager multiple tasks effectively.
- Position requires travel (20%); including visiting clients and attending meetings/conferences.
