Role:
The Training Manager is responsible for collaborating with the senior leaders to continuously assess, design, develop, implement and evaluate all aspects of training and education for the business unit.
Responsibilities:
- Assess training needs
- Review the current training programs offered within each area
- Define gaps in training offered
- Interview manager/supervisor of each area to define current performance gaps
- Define which performance gaps are solved by training and which are not (collaborate with HR Manager on this)
- Design and develop training programs
- Plan and develop training and education programs such as new employee orientation, speaker training, on-the-job training and special seminars as required for the staff.
- Develop program objectives, course content, determine training methodology (instructor, job aid, on-line), develop schedules, and select media for the effective implementation of training and education programs.
- Prepare training materials, visual aids, and other support materials as needed to implement training and education programs.
- Organize all logistical aspects of the training, including reserving conference rooms, audio visuals and coordinating the training schedule.
- Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of training program
- Develop a method for tracking and recording training participation and completion of programs.
- Develop methods, techniques, and criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training and education programs.
- Provide recommendations and improvements based on the program evaluations in order to continuously improve the training programs.
- Identify and recommend to management any additional sources of support for training and education such as outside instructors, internal instructors, and consultants.
- Facilitate management assessment and development opportunities to support talent management and succession planning programs and align with career development initiatives.
- Create personal development plans for key staff. Coaching managers to increase skills application to support the delivery of key management development programs.
- Identify, develop and manage a talent pool of future managers across the organization.
- Hire, train, establish individualized career development plans, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct performance evaluations with direct reports.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, and incorporate them into your duties and responsibilities
- Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree in Instructional Technology or related preferred.
- 5+ years experience in managing training curriculums
- Instructor/teaching skills
- Training design skills
- On-line training experience preferred
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Savvy communication skills, both written and verbal communication in order to collaborate and build strong relationships with staff from all levels of the organization
- Proven experience in creating effective training programs in a variety of different media
- Proven ability in analyzing management and team development needs and delivering leading edge initiatives that have a significant positive impact on the performance of the organization
