Description:
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Scientific Director to help our CME Oncology business. This position will report directly to the Director of Curriculum and Scientific Services and enjoy working in a fun and entrepreneurial atmosphere.
General Summary:
This person will develop and edit scientific materials for continuing Medical Education programs and maintain relationships with thought leaders, CME providers and medical associations. Also will work with Senior Management to develop content and faculty for proposed programs.
Fundamental Duties and Responsibilities:
- Writes and edits medical materials for presentations, scientific publications, newsletters, abstracts, posters, etc. Delivers manuscripts that consistently meet the objectives of the project, are within the job specifications as defined by client/team, and are at the appropriate level and tone for the audience.
- Works with operations staff to ensure all projects with medical content are on track and the content is delivered on time. Ensures timelines for projects are realistic and achievable.
- Coordinates external medical writers to ensure projects are on scope, within budget and delivered on time.
- Develops and maintains adequate and up to date scientific base for all products and therapeutic areas.
- Works with senior management and account service team members to research and be aware of potential opportunities in the marketplace.
- Works closely with CME accreditor to develop grant proposals and submissions and finalizes letters of agreement. Develop needs assessment and learning objectives as required for programs.
- Follows and stays updated on the regulations of ACCME, AMA, OIG, PhRMA, and AdvaMed regarding the development of educational programming.
- PharmD or Ph.D.
- Must have experience in medical writing and be able to consolidate data and translate complex scientific information into clinically relevant presentation materials, abstracts, manuscripts and other medical media for health care professionals.
- Must have the ability to edit PowerPoint slides, slide notes, manuscripts, and other types of medical media in accordance with AMA styling and CME guidelines.
- Must be able to fact check medical information and ensure accuracy of scientific content.
- Must have ability to write and edit within appropriate timelines to meet given deadlines, able to multitask, while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures for quality control.
- Must have ability to prioritize, follow outlines and deliver finished product in line with curriculum concept.
- Must be detail oriented with ability to track, document, and communicate to other team members changes to CME content submitted by faculty.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and proactively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Must have knowledge of continuing education and pharmaceutical industry guidelines.
- Preferably has 5 plus years of experience in medical writing.
- Preferably has experience in a variety of therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular, neuroscience, oncology, and immunology.
