Position Summary:
Provides strategic consultation to major client(s) of the company and internal project teams. Actively pursues new business opportunities with existing and/or new clients to ensure all business targets are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Corporate Officer:
- Function as bank signatory for amounts up to $50,000
- May enter the Company into contractual obligations with any of our clients or vendors up to $100,000. All contracts over $100,000 must be reviewed and approved by President and/or Group CEO.
- Responsible for strategic business planning to achieve US and International Company goals and annual financial targets
- Business Development
- Conduct market analysis in order to identify new business opportunities
- Identify and present new business opportunities both with existing clients and new clients
- Secure greater than $1,000,000 net revenue in new business annually (with new products and brand teams)
- Work to retain and grow existing accounts annually, client budgets permitting
- Develop new accounts to achieve business targets with strategically identified clients and target therapeutic areas
- Develop and participate in new business presentations
- Consult with strategic project teams to provide input to the benefit of internal and external teams
- Build and maintain relationships with senior level clients and work with them to develop and present strategic recommendations
- Develop new and innovative business ideas to meet clients’ needs and secure opportunities to present those ideas
- Develop proposals and estimates for final approval by a VP Client Services or President
- Develop new, original and innovative business ideas to meet clients’ needs
- Present new business ideas to clients
- Prepare budgets, negotiate and obtain agreement to mutually satisfactory contracts
- Project Management
- Assist the VP’s of Client Services (and/or Client Services Directors) to:
- Ensure the timely delivery of effective services to the complete satisfaction of the client
- As required, help to oversee the strategic direction of accounts
- Company Branding and Positioning
- Work with creative, IT and editorial teams to develop strong and consistent company branding and positioning
- Develop methods to track success of materials and investments
- Work with project leads to drive new product and service capabilities
- Work with creative, IT and editorial departments to develop promotional materials and activities to successfully launch and sell new product capabilities
- Financial
- Provide input into draft budgets for all proposed activities to ensure revenue and profit targets are met
- Work with Client Services to ensure internal cost control and adherence to agreed budgets
- Assist President to prepare financial forecasts
- Help develop and achieve annual turnover, revenue, staff and profit targets. Propose strategies to achieve those targets.
- Professional Contacts
- Develop and maintain friendly professional relations with key national and international client contacts and scientific and medical opinion leaders
- Develop media contacts and identifying key issues of interest to the media
- General
- Attend conferences meetings and other events both in the US and abroad as necessary
- Provide assistance to other company personnel as and when deemed necessary by the President
- Develop and maintain monthly reports to report progress on key performance indicators and major operational developments
- Continue to remain current with Agency and Pharma guidelines to ensure company strategies and operations are anticipating business opportunities or threats (i.e., OIG, PHARMA)
- A bachelor’s degree (life sciences preferable) and a master’s or PhD preferable
- Eight or more years experience in a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical environment
- General computer proficiency required with knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
