Description:
Our client is seeking a dynamic and independent Director of Scientific Affairs for CME Programs.
Position requires 5+ years experience in accredited CME medical education for physicians; thorough knowledge of ACCME and association regulations; scientific background, advanced degree in a medical scientific discipline. 5+ years experience in creating content for education in a wide variety of disease states to be delivered in all media.
Successful Director will lead Scientific Affairs Team for CME division of an established medical education company. Responsible for providing medical direction, content development, and strategy for accredited educational programs for healthcare professionals. Works with leaders in diverse medical specialties to develop and review scientific content to ensure scientific accuracy, relevance for target audiences, and strategic alignment of content to the objectives of the activity and client.
Essential Functions:
- Be an enthusiastic, supportive member of the Scientific Affairs team, dedicated to making the scientific product clinically appropriate and innovatively delivered.
- Provide scientific insight across a broad range of disease areas as designated by growing business and as such embrace knowledge expansion into new science and disease areas.
- Ensure scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, and strategic appropriateness of materials being developed
- Serve as a mentor to other members of the Scientific Affairs, writing and editorial team, and as a scientific expert resource for all colleagues
- Oversee the department workflow
- Research and write scientific needs assessments and disease state and market backgrounders tailored to educational grants and promotional initiatives
- Demonstrate the appropriate application of adult learning methods in the materials being developed
- Interact and negotiate effectively with faculty and clients
- Review/edit content to ensure scientific accuracy, relevance to target audience, and that content meets the objectives of the activity and the client
- Provide on-site scientific support for faculty, slide reviews and programs
- Contribute to building the library in the spirit of enhancing our access to scientific resources and innovative educational media
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with in the project team structure to meet or exceed the agreed upon deadlines

- Client oriented
- BS/MS in Science. Advanced scientific degree desirable.
- 5+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical Medical Affairs, MedEd Company Medical Affairs, or medical writing
- Experience developing scientific/medical content for grant submissions including needs assessment and associated research
- Experience developing, reviewing and approving scientific content for presentation at international/national congresses
- Knowledge of ACCME Standards and FDA regulations
- Thorough understanding of overall drug development, drug pre-marketing and marketing processes, and a familiarity with the guidelines, standards and regulations relative to medical education and marketing communications.
- Possess computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Database programs),
- Ability to travel approximately 10-20% of the time.
