Role(s):
This position is responsible for overseeing the management of multiple CME/CE programs and grantors, as well as contributing to senior management, operations, and new CME/CE programming activities. Management responsibilities include working directly with CME/CE Program leaders to maintain excellence in educational activities, team development and mentoring, and resource planning. The Vice President is primarily responsible for organic growth among current grantors and contributes to new educational opportunities as requested. The Vice President is also responsible for reporting and achieving key financial metrics to the EVP/Managing Director on a monthly basis. The Vice President participates in all senior management team activities and works with other staff to facilitate inter- and intra-team communication, conflict resolution, and general operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Identify new educational opportunities with their current grantors that leads to organic growth
- Work with the program team leaders to understand/interpret educational needs at the activity level
- Ensure overall customer expectations are met and surpassed
- Develop relationships with our key customers (faculty and grantors).
- Work with SVP, Educational Strategy and Development to identify unmet educational needs and introduce capabilities to other grantors.
- Achieve stated team goals as they relate to revenue, billability and profitability
- Lead educational grant proposal efforts with current grantors.
- Oversee Program leaders to ensure revenue and expense expectations are meet with each project. Report overall team project status, reconciliation and forecasting to EVP/Managing Director.
- Understand and adhere to all CME/CE guidelines.
- Manage team strengths/weaknesses, needs, and resources.
- Ensure all goal setting, performance reviews and mid-term appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
- Align team resources with current and anticipated programming needs.
- Manage project assignment decisions.
- Assume a leadership role in hiring, training, mentoring. Provide continuous feedback with direct reports and ensure this process takes place with those who have management responsibilities within your program team.
- Continuously look for ways to appropriately reward and motivate good work and enthusiasm.
- Participate in management meetings and contribute to overall company direction.
- Keep senior management apprised of high-level project status, new opportunities with current grantors, and team personnel issues.
- Work closely with the leadership in Support Services (Certification Services, Meetings, and Creative Services) to monitor resources, work flow, and ensure that customer expectations are being met and/or surpassed.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
- A bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree in science or business is preferred.
- Five to seven years relevant job experience is required.
- Senior leadership experience in a medical communications/education environment and demonstrated ability to manage several direct reports is preferred.
- Must have an extensive knowledge of CME/CE, principles of adult education, knowledge of healthcare, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong understanding of scientific and medical concepts.
- Extensive management experience with multidisciplinary teams, ability to delegate, proven business development skills, and strong presentation skills, organization, creativity and resourcefulness are a must.
- Computer proficiency, financial management and planning, and educational grant proposal writing skills are also required.
