Description:
The Senior Publications Manager (SrPubM) must have a thorough knowledge and proven ability in the development and implementation of publication plans including manuscripts, newsletters, oral presentations, abstracts, posters, monographs, and supplements. Demonstrated ability to manage publications projects for clients while ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Must ensure consistent and efficient performance of the PubM/PubC teams reporting to him/her through mentorship, training, and guidance. The SrPubM will also develop/modify procedures and processes to continually improve the publication management process within Scientific Affairs. Must support Account Management with the strategic and tactical development of publication plans for the publication projects that he/she manages. Ability to perform hands-on editing of manuscripts for consistency and style according to the account’s needs is a plus. Other responsibilities include: problem-solving, brainstorming, and representing at client and other meetings as necessary. Must have a strong understanding of pharmaceutical and medical education business as well as publication options and tactics. Proven leadership abilities are essential, including excellent oral and written communications.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years experience in medical communications (preferably in publications)
- Supervisory experience
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to quickly grasp and understand strategies and tactics
- Efficient work habits
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and delegate effectively
- Ability to meet and monitor deadlines and prioritize work
- Experience with a wide range of print materials
- Computer literate (MS Word, MS Project, web searching)
- College degree required
